Making better life choices

Eat healthy

You may be overwhelmed by all of the latest fad diets, but eating healthy is really not all that complicated! Try incorporating a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, lean proteins (including fish, chicken, legumes, and nuts), and healthy fats (including olive oil, salmon, and avocados) into your diet. Avoid processed foods, salty foods, added sugar, and fatty foods as much as possible.

Avoid processed foods, salty foods, added sugar, and fatty foods as much as possible.

Processed foods are often high in unhealthy fats. They usually contain cheap fats, refined seed- and vegetable oils (like soybean oil) that are often hydrogenated… which turns them into trans fats. Vegetable oils are extremely unhealthy and most people are eating way too much of them already. Talk to your doctor about specific dietary changes you should make based on your personal and family history.
Your diet can also have an effect on your mental health. Fruits and vegetables are thought to increase feelings of positivity, while fats and sugars are linked to feelings of depression. Chances are you’ve eaten some processed food today. Whether it was breakfast cereal, a granola bar, lunchmeat or a frozen dinner, some part of your diet likely contained one or more of the many preserved, refined, prepared or otherwise messed-around-with packaged foods that line our grocery store shelves

Get enough Sleep

Physical Health. Sleep plays an important role in your physical health. For example, sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke. If you have trouble falling asleep, try going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day, even on weekends. Avoiding caffeine and television before bed can also help.

Let's Go Biking

Cycling can be easily integrated into daily life, unlike gym workouts.
